I have had a very busy November and so far December mostly doing personal things. Support Group at the Mary Ann Evans Hospice has now closed down for the Christmas and New Year period and doesn't restart until the end of January.
There will be a new format for the Nuneaton support group as January, April, July and October will be held in the daytime between 11.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m. The other group meetings will be held as usual between 5.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.
The first session in January, I have been asked to take my laptop in so that Nuneaton members who do not have internet access can see how the website looks and how it has been set-up.
Two of our nurses and 14 of the support group members from the Hospice had our Christmas Lunch at the Whitestone, Nuneaton and we had a great lunch and afternoon.
As we turn our thoughts to Christmas and the New Year there is a Christmas Tips list under Newsletter with advice and First Aid Kit.
This website goes from strength to strength and we are up to 32,500 viewings. The one of nicest compliments I have received was from a lady who is in the Healthy Steps class I go to and she said "I can tell it is written from the heart".
The big challenge in 2015 will be to continue adding more information, keeping the website relevant and building on the success of this year.
The event or get-together I am hosting in May next year is evolving, the hall is now booked. Trulife are on board and they will be giving us a demonstration on breast forms and their lingerie. There will be a private room for fittings.
In addition there will be a Healthy Steps demonstration and I am working on getting a complimentary therapist to do a demonstration on relaxation techniques. Still working on another speaker. The buffet lunch will give our online members a chance to meet, chat and catch up with each other.
For this event to take place I need at least 50 members to attend, however we can take up to 80 people and will be on a first come, first served basis. Registration will be available from this website in January and the cost for the day will be £25.00. This will cover the cost of the hall and buffet so that I am not left out of pocket.
To be apart of this get-together you need to be a member of our online support group do come and join us at:
www.facebook.com/groups/lymphwhatoedema
Please remember that the online support group is open 24/7 and 365 days of the year. This time of year replies might be slower as everyone is busy with family and friends. Please rest assured there will someone who will come back to you if you need to talk or have a rant about your Lymphoedema.
I am humbled and overwhelmed by your encouragement and support this year and feel between us we have made some very small steps to telling people about Lymphoedema.
Wishing each of you
a
Happy Christmas
and a
Healthy and Peaceful 2015
